Queen Elizabeth and King Edward eagerly await the return of their son Prince Eberhart and his companion Kasperle, for the two have now been traveling through the surrounding countries for three months in search of a princess who will please both the prince and his mother. Elisabeth places the highest demands on her son's future wife and is all the more disappointed when, after the return of the two travelers, she learns that the prince has been unable to find a suitable girl. But before the displeasure about this can be properly made known, a young, pretty princess arrives at the castle on the run from an approaching thunderstorm. The prince is thrilled by the young woman and falls head over heels in love with her, and Anita is also very fond of the prince. Even the queen could well imagine this union, but first the girl must pass a test to prove whether she is a real princess... The puppet performances is a rare find from the early days of the Augsburg Puppenklste, recorded by RAI in Bolzano/South Tyrol. Even if the quality of the recording seems to be from another age of picture recording, the hearts of lovers of the Augsburger Puppenkiste will beat faster!
