Kanun - Blood for Honour

Documentary about the reality of the Kanun law in Albania today, a traditional set of rules for the protection of the "honor", that allows and regulates vendettas. At the centre of this documentary is a German nun who tries to mediate between the avengers and the victims. This documentary takes the viewer to northern Albania, where the law of vengeance, or law of the Kanun, still applies. There is a right to seek for blood revenge for 100 years, meaning 100 years until affected families can feel safe again. Relatives often cannot leave the house, because they fear that they will be murdered. Christian is one of them. Because his uncle killed someone, he was never allowed to play on the street with friends as a child. Because the "blood revenge" is the compulsion to take revenge and thus to kill, as it is called in the film. This film reports on families who no longer know a way out, and on the attempt by German nun Christina Färber to act as a mediator and to reconcile hostile families.
